sex, lies and advertisement

On my way to work there is a HUGE banner advertisement hanging on a building right next to the highway, seen by thousands of Washingtonians every day. It shows two lovely young ladies lying seductively next to each other on the beach in their bikinis and they are so sexy. That quasi-pornographic display most definitely captures my attention, and imagination. It also imprints upon my neural network the logo of the store that is bringing me the visual feast, their intention for sure. Okay, so we're wired up to give our attention to sexual stimulation, of course, because if we didn't the genes wouldn't go on. It's to our procreative advantage to be obsessed about sex. Evolutionary/biological advertising. Also, it makes the women feel insecure about their less-than-goddes-on-the-building stature and spend money trying to remedy that. Or it reinforces the idea that sex is power, because look at how it captures the attention of men. It also deepens cultural illusions about sex and intimacy. How many people, do you think, live in a fantasy world about what is sex and what is happiness, what is fulfillment? When we're always seeing images (been on myspace.com and seen those ads for "intimate dating"?) of "happiness is a warm bosom" it sends the cultural mind in a certain direction. It's not an evolutionary direction, it is an enormous distraction to the task at hand. 

The way I see it, those of us who are starting to wake up to the fact that we're in the matrix and are experiencing constant manipulation and illusion need to do what we can to break free from the illusion and manipulation. The first step in that is awareness, if I just stare at the picture, nothing changes, my thoughts towards women will remain the same and transformation will not be in the picture. But if I'm aware of my response to the picture in a context of wanting to bring higher consciousness to this world of ours, then there's the possibility of change. First, I can see where most men are at, through my own experience, and then look deeply to discover what is the right relationship to sexuality and to gender difference. What is a liberated relationship between men and women? Because that impulse of "woman is here to satisfy my sexual desire" goes very deep in men. It goes deep. I'm not saying sex is bad, I'm just interested in what is an undistorted relationship between the sexes.  

Two more things and I'll stop for now: 

-she's not a real person: "she's" 7 times bigger than you, 2 dimensional and made of ink.

-no one is forcing you to look, you can put your attention on many other things while you drive.
