That's a picture of EnlightenNext London, that's where the bar is at right now for worldwide centers of Evolutionary Enlightenment.
Creating it here in DC is my mission. That's why I'm here right now. That's what I want to share with you in this blog.
First, yesterday, Robert Heinzman, the publisher of What is Enlightenment magazine travelled from Lenox, MA to DC to spend an action packed 20 hours here. He and I met with John Petersen, Ken Dabkowski, James Jones (where's your zaadz profile James?) and Joshua Gorman (you too, Joshua) at the Arlington Institute. We spoke about government, military, consciousness, relationships, spirituality and more. Later that night, Robert lead a WIE salon discussion group. What follows is a brief description of the event...
Robert read exerpts from the issue of the magazine entitled "Is God a Pacifist?" which pointed to the fact that our conception of Ultimate Reality deeply affects how we respond to everyday situations in our lives. This was a very rich topic of discussion for the 20-plus people who attended last night. At times, participants conflicted over beliefs and knowledge, but quite often we met at a place that transcended the mind. At one point we recognized that only humility can bring people together for real, everything else is still just ideas.
A few words on what I have experienced with this kind of group, it looks different from the outside than from the inside. What I mean is that, the shift in consciousness from "I'm a separate person here in this group of other separate people," to "There is only one thing happening here, and the greatest goal of that thing is for these seemingly separate individuals to come together in a new and higher way," is the key to a meaningful gathering. Even if that shift is subtle, the effects are profound. Last night I feel like that shift occurred, it was more energetic than verbal and it was somewhat subtle. But the kind of intimacy and depth that was emerging, even though most participants didn't personally know each other, was moving. I felt very honored that such an event was happening here in the city where I live.
So that's how it starts, from humble beginnings like an evening discussion group can grow things like the London center.
Of course, the transformation of the individual, me, is the real heart of the matter. More on that later.
